The Buffalo Niagara International Film Festival kicks off Sept. 20 at the Four Seasons Cinema in Niagara Falls with a red carpet event at 5 p.m.
No less than a scheduled helicopter arrival of frequent Hollywood tough guy Robert Davi (“Goonies,” “Die Hard,” “License to Kill”) sets the tone for this year’s week-long festival. Davi will host a screening of his short “Davi’s Way” at 7 p.m.
The 2017 lineup also includes two shorts by Lackawanna native Lydia Fiore. Her film “High Deny” shows at 6 p.m. Sept. 28, followed by her buzzworthy “Swiped Right” at 8 p.m.
Fiore will be in town from her home in New Jersey for the screenings.
Other opening night highlights include a special Q&A with Davi after the screening of his film, and a visit from notorious “Dynasty” vixen Catherine Oxenberg.
Workshops are also available, including two free events on Saturday, Sept. 23 for budding filmmakers interested in learning about music in film. “The Harmony of Music & Cinema” at noon discusses the art of adding music to movies, and “Music Videos and the Harmony of Music & Cinema Panel” at 11:30 a.m. will present nine music videos for discussion.
