-Joe Vicario has never had an easy life. Born with Goldenhar Syndrome, Joe went through 28 surgeries before he was 12 years old. Despite his medical struggles, Joe was not kept him from pursuing his passion of sports. After being accepted into Rochester Institute of Technology in 2010, he joined the NCAA Division I hockey team as a student equipment manager. Joe’s greatest challenges however, were yet to come, as he was faced with two near-death experiences during his time at RIT. Part-Time Joe is a short documentary produced and directed by Chris Brands that tells Joe’s inspirational story. The film explores what Joe has learned from his experiences, how he is able to keep a positive outlook on life, and how he has managed to become the heart and soul of RIT Hockey.
